Happy New Year!

Today, as I mentioned, was the Feast of the Circumcision of Our Lord Jesus Christ before the reforms of Venerable Pius XII. In the Calendar of Pope Paul VI it is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. It is normally an Holy Day of Obligation in the US, but in these lax latter days, the Bishops have declared that, in the case of many such Holy Days, if it falls on a Monday, the obligation is suppressed for that year.

OL of Guadalupe,
Queen of Mexico, and
Empress of the Americas,
ora pro nobis!

It was announced on the last two Sundays that whilst it was not of Obligation, Mass would be offered at 09.00 this morning. Normally on a Day of Obligation we have at least two Masses, one on the Vigil and one on the Day itself. Yesterday at Mass Father reiterated that it was not of Obligation but that he would be celebrating, inviting us to join him, despite the forecast temperature of -12 F. He was off by a few degrees! When I walked over to the Church, it was -18 F! I wore my M-65 field jacket for the first time this year.

Happy Feast Day, no matter what Calendar you follow! Whether it is the Circumcision, the Octave Day of the Nativity, or the Solemnity of Mary, rejoice!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
