GENEVA BIBLE. An English translation of the Bible, under Protestant auspices, published in Geneva in 1560. It was the first English edition to use verse divisions, had a strong Calvinist tone, and is popularly known as the "Breeches Bible" because of its translation of Genesis 3:7, "they … made themselves breeches."
