My Advice to a Young Friend

I have a young friend on Facebook. We connected over our shared interests in monarchism, but, as it turns out, we're both Catholic as well as monarchists.

He messaged me last night, asking my views on the horrible scandals engulfing the Church these recent weeks. He expressed concern that many of our Bishops are making what he termed 'distant and diplomatic' responses, and that many of the men involved are relatively young, in their 50s and will have years of influence in the Church unless something is done..

What follows is part of my response.

We need roaring lions for bishops right now, not meek little lambs.

You're a young man, Sir! Those 50ish ones will die before you're my age. The generation coming up is orthodox with a leaning toward Tradom. Twenty years ago, I had an assistant pastor, newly ordained. He wore a cassock and a biretta as daily street wear. He celebrated the NO in Latin every chance he got. He learned the TLM and celebrates both now. He's in his mid 40s today. If we get a Catholic Pope, it is men like him who are the next generation of Bishops.

Just as things have speeded up in the world, I think they have speeded up in the Church. The Arian crisis took over two centuries to end. The Catholic Reformation took almost a century and a half. The rot of modernism took 70 years to take effect. When it did, the damage was done in twenty years or so. I think the Second Catholic Reformation will take effect in an even shorter time.

I'm 71. I doubt I'll live to see the victory, but it doesn't stop me fighting for it, here on FB, on FishEaters, on my blog, and other places. You're young. I think you WILL live to see what I refer to as the return of sanity to the Church. Noting that I am not 'SSPX' (I attend the NO because I have no choice, and I am a former member of an FSSP Parish), I believe you will live to see the canonisation of Monseigneur Lefebvre as a 'Second Athanasius'.

Do not, despair my young friend! The gates of hell CANNOT prevail and He promised he would be with us always. His Most Holy Mother has promised us that Her Immaculate Heart will triumph and I know that the Social Reign of the Sacred Heart of Christ The King and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Men and Angels, will come. Have a blessed XIIIth Sunday after Pentecost and St Jean Eudes Day. This old man is going to bed in a few.

I hope it helped him.

  1. A minute ago, after reading Hilary White's "Dwarfs are for the Dwarfs: what not to expect at the World Meeting of Families" I wanted to tell her: Yes, unfortunately, Catholics are too far gone to want to accept truth (truth about what has been happening and the Truth). I saw things exactly as she did.

I hope you are correct, I would like to hope that things are going to get better from now on. You spoke wise and beautiful words to the young man. But it is not going to happen this way. The good young priests will be brutally persecuted, mocked, beaten, perhaps killed. The remnant will have to hide to save lives from the angry mob of Francis catholics. The next impostor will be much much worse. It is still a long way to the cross.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
