Another Calendar term, which will become very important when we discuss the Computus!
The musings and meandering thoughts of a crotchety old man as he observes life in the world and in a small, rural town in South East Nebraska. My Pledge-Nulla dies sine linea-Not a day with out a line.

Word of the Day: Golden Number
GOLDEN NUMBER. The name of each of the nineteen numbers representing the cycle of lunar years into which Meton (432 B.C.) divided the calendar. He discovered that after nineteen solar years had elapsed the new moon would occur on the same days in the years indicated by identical numbers. They are called golden because the number for each current year was inscribed in gold on the pillar of a temple in Athens. The Golden Numbers have been adopted in the ecclesiastical calendar since the time of St. Hippolytus (A.D. 170-236).

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
