From Chevalier Charles Coulombe's Facebook Page

I can't pretend that I am at all shocked about the revelations from Pennsylvania and about Cardinal McCarrick - and not just because I have been monitoring this sort of thing for most of my adult life. It is simply the moral aspect of the illness which has overwhelmed every aspect of Church life - doctrinal, liturgical, catechetical, and cultural - over the past seven decades. These awful disclosures are forcing people to look at the mess in ways they never have before - especially when they turned a blind eye or encouraged those other aspects of the general ruin.. But it is not only evil hierarchs and clerics who are to blame; think of the laity who happily ditched fasting and abstinence, and embraced contraception! Who voted for politicians who opposed Church teaching, because they happened to be members of our own ethnic group, or promised (and sometimes even delivered on those promises) to our various communities. But God is not mocked; He still comes down on the altar daily, even through the hands of immoral priests; He still performs miracles; He still saves souls, if His children will only work with Him. Our Faith must NEVER depend upon the probity of men (not least ourselves) but on Him, His Mother, His Angels and Saints. In Heaven is our hope, on Earth is our test.

  1. We are sinners in need of redemption. This has always been so. Our church in the hands of Satanists and homosexual predators, this has not always been so. It is as if the very air is full of suspended anticipation, we do not know what we will do, we do not know what God will do.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
