However, he does discuss the fact that all the European monarchies, Catholic or protestant today, have their roots in Catholicism, and that the ceremonies and rites surrounding the monarchs are Catholic in origin.
For example, the English Coronation Rite, as it exists today, can be traced back to a Liturgy devised by St Dunstan for the Coronation of King Edgar in AD 973. It drew on the Coronation Rite of the Catholic Kings of the Franks and the Rite for the Consecration of a Bishop.
It has been revised several times, incorporating elements of the Coronation Rites of the Holy Roman Emperors and of the Most Christian Kings of France. Whilst it was 'protestantised' after the Deformation, its Catholic roots are still obvious, taking place during a 'Service of Holy Communion' with the new King or Queen being anointed with the Oil of Chrism

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
