Today is Victory in Europe Day. On this day in 1945, the Allies succeeded in defeating the second most murderous ideology in modern history, that of the National Socialist German Workers Party. Remember socialism kills!

It is rather important to me, personally, since the victory over Germany allowed my parents to decide to go ahead and get married. My father was a PFC in HQ&HQ Sqdn, Eighth United States Army Air Force, and my mother had been conscripted into war work. With the war ended, they felt that it was safe to get married without worrying that one of them would become a widowed newlywed.
Below are some videos from the day and the celebrations, including Prime Minister Churchill's announcement of the victory and the King's speech broadcast to the entire Empire.
Let us remember all those who fell in gaining this victory over the forces of evil. We will remember them! Lest we forget!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
