Murdered by the Reds 38 years ago today. Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko, pray for us! Błogosławiony Jerzy Popiełuszko, módl się za nami!
Blessed priest Jerzy Popiełuszko is one of the great patrons of "Solidarity" and heroes of the Church.
38 years ago he was murdered by agents of the communist repression apparatus, who wanted to suppress the spark of freedom that he created in Poles with his charisma, attitude and sermons.
This crime shook modern Poland, and the victim of priest Jerzy contributed to the overthrow of the iron curtain a few years later.
For 4 years, on the anniversary of his martyred death, we have been celebrating the National Day of Remembrance of the Unbreakable Spiritual - a holiday established by the resolution of @TAG, which is to commemorate "heroes, unbreakable defenders of faith and independent Poland".
Priest Jerzy is one of the great heroes of my youth. Every year - on the anniversary of his birth and death - I try to pay homage to him at his resting place near the St. Church. Stanisława Kostki in Warsaw.
Honor His Memory - and eternal glory to all the priests who testified for heroism with their lives on the altar of patriotism and independence.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
