The tools of the trade.

Susan and I have been chatting lately about starting our own little series called The 
Flashlight. 

Why the flashlight? 

Well, first of all, we can't afford a spotlight. We don't have a green room or whatever they call that green screen that can be used to put up any background. We don't have fancy cameras and videographers to create Hollywood style programming. We're just a couple of women with a blog.

While we lack fancy equipment, we do have pencils, keyboards, and .... flashlights! I even have a cute little lantern I got at an anniversary party that provides the Biblical equivalent of the little bowl of oil with a wick that lights about one step. 

But since, as the Christophers say, it only takes one candle to dispel the darkness, one small flashlight is enough -- especially when it's battery-operated by the truth, the word of God.

So we will be using our flashlights to expose the grifters out there. 

What is a grifter exactly? 

The common definition is a con man (inclusive term, women can be cons too) who uses lies and deceit to swindle people out of money. The urban dictionary, however, offers a broader definition:

A Grifter, is somebody who can influence anybody, anywhere, at anytime, into doing whatever they choose to have them do, that will result in the grifter's personal gain. Usually monetary, but really anything that benefits him or her somehow.

It's absolutely NOT all of these technical things that puts this person in a specific box or particular "genre" of criminal. This person can literally become anyone or anything they want to. Not nessecarily sociopathic, but I'm sure it helps to be dead inside. Learning other people and how they react to any given situation is a must, because that is the core of what a grifter is: a student of human behavior. And once they have that mastered, the world is their playground.

 I've read a number of articles lately about all the grifters in politics --  There are plenty of them sitting in Congress and parading around the Executive Office Building. And blue states are filled with them. Gavin Newsom is a grifter of the first stripe who thinks he can con the whole country into believing he's a fit candidate for the White House. Destroying his state fails to satisfy this grifter; he wants to destroy the whole country. And, of course, there are the other liberal governors and mayors who make rules for the hoi polloi that don't apply to them. It's hilarious to see Muriel Bowser lamenting the fact that Texas is sending to D.C. their poor, tired huddled masses yearning to be free.

Grifters aren't limited to liberals, although they exist in the thousands or tens of thousands. Grifters occupy the conservative movement as well. They are the ones who don't really care about conservative principles, but use them to enrich themselves and increase their power and prestige. When the pedal hits the metal, they will sell out their conservative "principles" in a heartbeat because they lack integrity. 

RINO politicians are all grifters who use conservative principles to get a lucrative seat in Congress and then proceed to throw their constituents under the bus. Just check out the Republicans on the January 6th committee. And check the names endorsing the blank checks to the Ukraine. It's okay to bankrupt our country for a war that benefits us not one iota parading and virtue signaling while ignoring monstrous events in other parts of the world. It's pretty clear these grifters are willing to fight to the last dead Ukrainian to demonize one of the few countries in the world opposing the global reset! A war that could have lasted a few weeks is now one more endless morass that may possibly ignite World War III. Besides, grifters make plenty of money from war and they do love money!

But there's one other place where grifters congregate -- the Church. We've all seen the protestant preachers on TV who live like Herod while they talk about Jesus. And, sad to say, Catholic apostolates can also be perverted by love of money, power, and prestige. There's no happier place for narcissistic grifters than in front of the cameras being lauded as champions against perversion and corruption. Like the definition says, it's about "anything" that benefits the grifter.
