As I've said elsewhere, keep praying for Cupich's repentance and conversion, but don't make the mistake of thinking he's on our side!
From One Mad Mom
Can I just say one thing before the “Church of Nice” starts in on how nobody should do this? Nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to see the Church come to this. We are completely and utterly saddened that it’s come to this. None of us was raised to shame a cardinal off a stage. We want desperately to honor our prelates, but I am not sad this happened. It gives me hope. I feel like I’ve been using this a lot lately, but if the laity fails to learn this and get very uncomfortable, it’s going to be several long generations of Cardinal Cupich types.
Who’s going to save our Church? It’s not our bishops, it’s not our priests and it is not the religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that the priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops, and the religious act like religious.
-Archbishop Fulton Sheen
If our priests, religious, and bishops don’t act like priests, religious, and bishops, what are we supposed to do? Now, of course, there’s a list of things that should be done before it gets to this, but they have been done. Prayer and fasting? Check. Addressing them privately? Check. Addressing them publicly? Check. But, as we’ve now come to literal persecution of the laity, well, again, the laity is going to have to get very uncomfortable.
Chicago Cardinal Heckled and Booed During Pro-Life Rally
THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D.
Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich was booed by a number of pro-life demonstrators at a Chicago rally Saturday for his alleged failure to oppose abortion more vigorously.
Actually, there was nary a “Boo!” He was “Shamed!” off the stage. And, no, it wasn’t for his “alleged failure to oppose abortion more vigorously.” It was for a long, long list of horrible things. How about trying to tank the USCCB’s efforts to prevent sacrilege of the Eucharist? How about trying to get rid of the “preeminent issue” when it comes to abortion? How about persecution of our traditionalist brethren and, really, anyone who likes anything traditional like an ad orientem Masses? How about locking people out of their churches? How about closing churches left and right? How about giving the Eucharist to non-Catholic, pro-homosexual lifestyle, pro-abortion politicians? How about shilling for McCarrick when you know he’s guilty of abuse? How about telling abuse victims the Pope doesn’t have time to “Go down that rabbit hole” because climate change is so much more important? How about persecuting his employees over vaccine mandates? How about his support of James Martin throwing under the bus the souls of many same-sex attracted in his flock? The list goes on and on and on.
Some of the protesters at Chicago’s March for Life carried green signs with white lettering that read “Cupich is the culture of death” and one video reproduced a tweet by the cardinal in which he insisted on the sanctity of life “from birth until natural death,” instead of “from conception.”
Yup. That happened the very morning of the Chicago March for Life. Can you imagine another prelate putting out such a pro-abort message? And, just for the record, it was changed to “conception” after outrage came his way on Twitter. However, whoever tweeted that made it glaringly clear that Cardinal Cupich and/or his staff have no clue on Catholic teaching. Either that or they do and are going to try and thwart it which is more like it in regards to Cardinal Cupich. While I think it was probably staff who tweeted, if you listen to his whole speech he does indeed say “born in order to begin” so I seriously doubt conception is his marker of life and his good little minions just tweeted what he thinks. Regardless, clearly not a priority as Cardinal Cupich has made clear on numerous occasions when he’s tried to equate the fight to save the unborn with the fight to end “climate change.”
According to a report by Carlos Esteban for infovaticana.com, Cardinal Cupich has tended to shy away from the pro-life cause, “preferring to focus his energies on the fight against COVID and the followers of the Traditional Mass, ecological conversion and other fashionable battles,” which explains why he “had to be escorted by the security team when he finished speaking.”
Let me make this clear, the cardinal was never in physical danger because, duh, it was a pro-life rally and those shaming him were probably Catholics. Was his ego beat up? Absolutely. Poor baby. He better get used to it, because he’s likely to be met with more of this. You just don’t get to downplay the plight of the unborn.
The cardinal has also defended President Joe Biden’s right to receive Holy Communion despite his open support for abortion-on-demand, Esteban noted.
Cupich has argued for the moral equivalency of abortion with other social ills such as joblessness, racism, and a “broken immigration system.”
Yeah, children being ripped apart in the womb and the lives of their mothers being irreparably harmed is just like joblessness. He’s either an idiot or evil or both. There’s no other way to say it.
In 2015, Cupich said abortion is appalling but we should be “no less appalled” by other social ills, such as a lack of decent medical care, lack of gun control, and capital punishment.
Pick your chin up off the floor. He actually said you should “no less appalled” about children being torn apart than gun control. Color me more appalled, Cardinal Cupich. Next time you crawl through the dumpsters at Planned Parenthood as I and my family have, let me know how you feel about finding the arms and legs of children and body parts so intact you can tell if it’s a boy or a girl, Cardinal Cupich. Oh, yeah, just the same as “climate change.” Some of us live in the real world. Sorry, Cardinal Cupich, THIS is the preeminent issue.
At the time, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput reacted strongly to Cupich’s declaration, warning of the problems with such moral equivalency.
“The deliberate killing of innocent life is a uniquely wicked act,” Chaput wrote. “No amount of contextualizing or deflecting our attention to other issues can obscure that.”
“Humanity’s priority right – the one that undergirds all other rights – is the right to life,” Chaput wrote.”
Exactly. Cardinal Cupich always ignores the reality with words. I dare him, for once, to acknowledge the atrocity and talk about what really happens when a woman goes into a “procedure room” at Planned Parenthood. I dare him to read about Gosnell. Clearly it hasn’t been a priority for him.
“All direct attacks on innocent human life, such as abortion and euthanasia, strike at the house’s foundation,” he continued. “These directly and immediately violate the human person’s most fundamental right — the right to life.”
Exactly, Archbishop Chaput. If abortion isn’t ended and people don’t start seeing THE most vulnerable as an unborn child of God, we have zero hope of solving any real (not perceived) social ill. Cardinal Cupich and his buddies are perpetuating all the evil in our world.
In early 2021, Cardinal Cupich rebuked the president of the U.S. Bishops’ Conference (USCCB), Archbishop José Gomez, for having voiced criticism of President Biden for his overt promotion of abortion as a moral evil.”
In a series of tweets, Cupich called the archbishop’s statement “ill-considered” and instead issued his own whitewashed statement, which extended his “warmest wishes” to Biden, while decrying the evils of the Capitol riots, poverty, and racism, without mentioning abortion at all.”
If he’s going to rebuke another bishop for doing something right, you can bet people are going to call him out on his evil! If he doesn’t want people shaming him, he shouldn’t force it to come to this.
Shortly afterward, the Vatican’s former doctrinal chief, Cardinal Gerhard Müller, slammed Cardinal Cupich for his unwillingness to call out President Joe Biden on his support for abortion.
Cardinal Cupich was clearly in the wrong, Müller said and sacrificed his role as teacher of the faith on the altar of “political preferences.
“A Catholic bishop is distinguished from power politicians and ideologues by his obedience to the revealed Word of God,” Müller stated. “He would be a false apostle if he relativized the natural moral law for the sake of his political preference or because he favored one party or the other.”
“Anyone who relativizes the clear acknowledgment of the sacredness of every human life with tactical games, sophistries and window dressing because of political preferences, publicly opposes the Catholic faith,” the cardinal declared.
“Vatican II and all the popes down to Francis have described the deliberate killing of a child before or after birth as a most grievous violation of God’s commandments,” Müller added.
“I cannot support a pro-abortion politician just because he builds public housing, as though I had to put up with what is absolutely evil on account of something relatively good,” he said.”
That smackdown was the most charitable thing that could be said about or to Cardinal Cupich. I will also add that Cardinal Cupich is now, and always has been, ineffective in caring for the souls of his flock. Keep praying for his conversion. That should never cease, even when you’re forced to defend the vulnerable and others oppressed by him.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
