Happy Thanksgiving

The Mad Monarchist wishes his readers a Happy Thanksgiving, despite the fact that he doesn't celebrate it.

From The Mad Monarchist (22 November 2012)

As most long-time readers know, I don't "do" Thanksgiving, but for those of you who do, I wish you all a happy one. I will spare a repeat of my position regarding the holiday but will simply point back to an older post on the
real first Thanksgiving which was, of course, in Texas. Read about it here.

Be on the lookout in the coming days for a new series here at The Mad Monarchist called "The Story of Monarchy" which will be short histories (with commentary of course) on the overall history of monarchies of the world and, for those which are now republics, how they have fared since. -MM

  1. -- I am also a person that do not celebrate Thanksgiving - perhaps for different reasons than ones the Mad monarchist explained. The thanksgiving holiday it is an institutionalized holiday by law here in USA.( maybe in other countries as well). The thanksgiving day had been celebrated all over the world from millennia. It is nothing more than a harvest festival done in many countries, regions and cultures. The Pilgrims as well as the "Indians" that help them to survive in the new land, were doing that long before they meet each other in New England. Therefore to me thanksgiving, it is the day in every countries and culture when of the crops they cultivate it is harvested and a dully thanks is given. Not because a decree or law. Just because it is the right thing to do.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
