Milo and Me

This fits right in with the post I shared from Les Femmes on 'hate filled liberals'. They cannot stand to see someone who goes against their narrative, like Milo has done.

From One Mad Mom

I’ve been following Milo Yiannopoulos for a very long time. I’ve probably prayed for him more than anyone with whom I don’t have personal contact, too. He’s a complete stranger other than what everyone else sees, but I’ve always been a sucker for a sad story, and he’s definitely got one. I’m a mom. I hate to see lost kids and while I’m probably not old enough to be his mom, I still tend to want to protect broken people like him.  I also got into Catholic activism because of the abuse scandal, of which he is a victim. I’ve followed his Catholicism with interest, and for a long while he seemed to have St. Augustine’s “Lord, make me chaste but not yet” attitude. I’ve prayed on more than one occasion for him to realize that the proverbial bus might be coming for him at any moment. Many young people think they’ve got all the time in the world until death gets there a little earlier. It’s dumb to wait to convert and yet that’s our inclination. I think I’ve said on more than one occasion that I’d like to adopt him and then smack him in the head.

So, out comes the Lifesite News article yesterday on his attempts to get his life together. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/activist-milo-yiannopoulos-is-now-ex-gay-consecrating-his-life-to-st-joseph

After following him for years, I think Milo would consider anyone who thinks he’s got this in the bag to be stupid. He’s got some big challenges ahead and now that he’s “come out” he’ll probably be under spiritual attack even more. One thing that you can say about him is that he admits his faults. We should take him at his word and pray a little extra for him.

Now, I’m usually a bit behind in who’s who in the Catholic world, but I stumbled across a tweet today from a twit who, I guess, writes for “Where Peter Is.” That is apparently one of those “Where Truth Is Not” publications, because this guy’s tweet is ridiculous if you bothered to read the LifeSite News piece. Where’s the hate, D.W.? It was actually a nice story about the beginning of what’s hopefully a true conversion and repentance through the intercession of St. Joseph. In case you don’t remember who he is, he’s the saint designated for this year by Pope Francis. So here’s the stinkin’ tweet.

So Milo has come out as a pious “ex-gay” Catholic to LifeSite. Hurts to see St. Joseph used to own the libs and as an excuse to engage in hate speech against LGBT people. This is true sacrilege. https://twitter.com/rightscholar/status/1369409718947549191

I’d be lying if I said this was the only nasty tweet I saw. And, sadly, I have not seen any joyous tweets from the likes of James Martin, SJ, either. I am shocked! Shocked I tell you that he wasn’t the first to congratulate Milo. (Yes, that was sarcastic.) Martin has been eerily quiet on the subject. Of course, I didn’t expect him to rejoice because Milo validates authentic Catholic teaching on chastity and homosexuality. “That’s not allowed, it’s not possible, it’s opposite of what we say is possible, so we’ll just ignore it. If we draw attention to it, some might actually start believing all things are indeed possible with God.”

I ask again, where’s the hate? Shouldn’t you, as a Catholic, be excited about the prospect of someone making a conversion of heart? I am, despite the fact that I have cautious optimism that begs me to pray a little harder.

Let’s go over Milo’s story one more time. He was abused by a priest. He’s lived the “gay” lifestyle. He has never asked the Church to excuse his proclivities. He has admitted that he was stupid in that regard and hoped that he would someday leave the lifestyle and not be drawn to it, but he wasn’t willing to give it up yet. He has every reason to hate the Church, and yet he’s been able to differentiate between evil men and the Church.

Does he have far to go? Yep, but don’t we all? As the Body of Christ, shouldn’t we be praying for him instead of accusing him of sacrilege? And sacrilege to what? The “gay” lifestyle? Sodomy? D.W. really needs to explain because it certainly isn’t against the Church.

I’ve noticed that publications like “Where Peter Is” have big troubles hoping for the conversion of people and, of course, they’re a little obsessed with Trump so they’d be totally willing to bad-mouth anyone who supports Trump, pays homage to Saint Joseph and conversion. That just can’t happen. To choose Trump over Biden is sacrilegious in their minds. Nobody can dare hope for conversion of Trump, Milo Yiannopoulous (who supported Trump) or anyone else in the Trump sphere. It’s sad really. The idea that someone should be accused of sacrilege (again, to some unknown premise) because they’re espousing St. Joseph and trying to live the chaste life when it’s really just about politics is pathetic.

So, again, while I’m cautiously optimistic about Milo’s conversion, that caution causes me to pray, not condemn. I will pray he next realizes that having his former boy toy as a “housemate” is a near occasion of sin. I pray that God heals his heart over the abuse he’s suffered in his life. I pray God will help him with his pride issue. I pray for true repentance for his sins. I pray for the Sacraments to fortify him. I pray for him to rely on his guardian angel, etc., etc., etc. Finally, I pray he leads many souls to Christ. Hopefully, the great D.W. Lafferty will do the same and will not be a stumbling block to anyone in this regard.

However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
