A Meditation on Lamentations of Jeremias, 1:6-11

What follows is an insightful meditation on the opening verses of the Lamentations of Jeremias, written by an online friend of mine. I think it's very powerful and on point!

I had an inspiration to return to the Book of Jeremias's Lamentations last night. And immediately, as often happens when one returns to the Prophets during these days, I found a passage which was profoundly applicable to our times, as follows:

Vau. And from the daughter of Sion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like rams that find no pastures: and they are gone away without strength before the face of the pursuer.Zain. Jerusalem hath remembered the days of her affliction, and prevarication of all her desirable things which she had from the days of old, when her people fell in the enemy's hand, and there was no helper: the enemies have seen her, and have mocked at her sabbaths.
Heth. Jerusalem hath grievously sinned, therefore is she become unstable: all that honoured her have despised her, because they have seen her shame: but she sighed and turned backward.
Teth. Her filthiness is on her feet, and she hath not remembered her end: she is wonderfully cast down, not having a comforter: behold, O Lord, my affliction, because the enemy is lifted up.
Jod. The enemy hath put out his hand to all her desirable things: for she hath seen the Gentiles enter into her sanctuary, of whom thou gavest commandment that they should not enter into thy church. - Lam. 1:6-10. Douay-Rheims.

First, 1:6 stood out to me,

Vau. And from the daughter of Sion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like rams that find no pastures: and they are gone away without strength before the face of the pursuer.

"her princes are become like rams that find no pastures:" very much speaks to me of how our own princes, i.e. Bishops, Shepherds; have no real fertile ground to posit the faith, as many people these days have become like barren, rocky soil; who hear the Word but nothing comes of it.

Further, "and they are gone away without strength before the face of the pursuer." This is more explicit once we equate "princes" with our Shepherds, as not only have they lacked the grounds to grow their flocks, but they have been so driven by the spirit of the world that their strength has been sapped from them, and their flocks, or they themselves, are falling to the pursuit (agenda) of the worldly.

Zain. Jerusalem hath remembered the days of her affliction, and prevarication of all her desirable things which she had from the days of old, when her people fell in the enemy's hand, and there was no helper: the enemies have seen her, and have mocked at her sabbaths.

The next verse reminds me of the nostalgia and longing of the Traditionalist Catholics who reflect on not only the errors of the Second Vatican Council, but the spread of the Modernist errors within the Church beforehand, and what has been lost since then. Specifically, "and prevarication of all her desirable things which she had from the days of old" comes across as addressing the theft of the Church by usurpers, namely, Modernists, Secret Societies, Communist infiltrators, etc. Leaving the laity to fall "in the enemy's hand" without any "helper", i.e. priests or Bishops of good faith with influence in the Church.

"the enemies have seen her, and have mocked at her sabbaths." From my perspective, the New Mass, specifically those lackadaisical and "innovative" forms of the Mass which serve to mock God rather than glorify Him.

Teth. Her filthiness is on her feet, and she hath not remembered her end: she is wonderfully cast down, not having a comforter: behold, O Lord, my affliction, because the enemy is lifted up.

"Jerusalem hath grievously sinned, therefore she is become unstable:" to me, seems to reflect the corruptions of the more worldly-minded who infiltrated the hierarchy and handed Holy Mother Church over to ungodly interests. We have seen that the fruits of Modernism have reduced the once "honoured" Church to a despicable state, as "all that honoured her" namely, those nations who were once aligned to Catholicism and culturally Catholic, now despise her as they have been completely given over to the enemy. "she sighed and turned backward" the Church in our modern age has given up the fight, at least within her hierarchy, and resigned to obscurity.

"she hath not remembered her end:" namely, God. The Church under Modernism and the assaults of Her enemies has been blinded to the last end of all things, God Almighty, and is reflected in Her hierarchy. We see a Pope that does not teach God as the last end of all things, but rather, has given himself over completely to the world. "behold, O Lord, my affliction, because the enemy is lifted up." We see the agenda of the Globalists coincide with that of the Vatican, and those who hold fast to the true Spirit of the Church are afflicted; they see the triumph of the enemy (Lucifer).

Jod. The enemy hath put out his hand to all her desirable things: for she hath seen the Gentiles enter into her sanctuary, of whom thou gavest commandment that they should not enter into thy church.

Given the context I've provided, this verse I think illustrates the shame of the Amazon Synod, and the Syncretism of Pope Francis, who has reached out to the Gentiles (i.e., non-Catholics) in an effort to welcome all ungodly faiths into the fold of a unified "Church." Not only that, but "she hath seen the Gentiles enter into her sanctuary" can correlate specifically with the pan-religious ceremonies of the past three Pontiffs either in the Assisi prayer meetings of JPII, or the blasphemous Pachamama ceremonies of Francis last year.

Caph. All her people sigh, they seek bread: they have given all their precious things for food to relieve the soul: see, O Lord, and consider, for I am become vile. - Lam. 1:11.

This is very important, given the complete shut down of the Church during the "crisis." "All her people sigh, they seek bread:" very, very obvious reference to the Eucharist, and how those faithful long for Communion. "they have given all their precious things for food to relieve the soul:" The time, the tears, the prayers, all given in longing for that Bread of Life which can rejuvenate the soul. This passage could even refer to the Sacraments themselves. "O Lord, and consider, for I am become vile." Without the Eucharist, or the Sacraments, many risk the state of their souls, becoming wretched before the Lord as a result of access to the Sacraments being taken away by our own "princes" or Bishops, who have fallen prey to the beasts which pursue them.

In conclusion, this is all that came to mind when I read these passages last night. And, as the words of the Prophets usually do, they speak boldly not only of the Babylonian exile, but our own Catholic exile, as the Church has been given over and prostituted to Lucifer and his minions. I only speculate here, others probably have their own reading of the same words. But, I'm interested in what others think.
