If You'd Like to Help Musings of an Old Curmudgeon

As you know from my disclaimer in the sidebar, 'Musings' is a participant in both Google AdSense and the Amazon Associates program. These are methods in which to help (in a VERY small way!) keep 'Musings' on the net. I have had the blog monetised with these programs for quite some time and I usually make between $50.00 and $75.00 a month. As you can see, 'Musings' is definitely a 'not for profit' enterprise!

I like to think of it as my apostolate. I'm 74 years old, retired, with stage four COPD and congestive heart failure (please pray for me!). As a result, an active apostolate like the Legion of Mary is out, tho' I am an Auxiliary of the Legion. Likewise, a workplace apostolate is a no-go since I basically can no longer work.

However, because of all this, one thing I do have is time! Time to surf the net looking for articles of interest, articles that will inform, and hopefully energise, people in their active apostolates to defend the Church and our Græco-Roman Catholic civilisation and culture.

So how can my readers help? Before I go into detail, let me say a few words about ad content. I have been told that occasionally the ads are, shall we say, a bit risqué? At least I hope that's all they are. Needless to say, I don't spend a lot of time reading the blog. I seem to have no way of controlling ad content, beyond making it clear to Google that this is a Traditionalist Catholic blog. I have searched and searched for settings that give me some control, but with no success. If any of my readers have a suggestion or know how to control ad content in Google AdSense, please let me know!

Now, as to how my readers can help 'Musings'. First, of course, there is a PayPal 'Donate' button near the top of the sidebar. However, if you do not feel that you can donate directly, there are two other ways to help.

First, please turn off your adblocker. I get a tiny bit of payment for each Google ad that is seen on the blog, as well as a bit more for each 'click' on an ad, whether or not a purchase is made.

Second are the Amazon Affiliate ads. Anytime I mention a book that is available on Amazon it is a link to the Amazon site. If you purchase the book, I get a few cents, at no additional cost to you. However, and possibly more importantly, if you are an Amazon customer and you go to the site through one of my links, I get credit for any purchases made in the next hour or so.

It was in this way that I've gotten credit for such diverse things as an HKS Series A Speedloader, model DS-A for .38 Special cartridges, an eXuby Shock Collar for Small Dogs with Remote, a 6-Cavity Large Silicone Cake Mold, and a Herschel Dawson Backpack! (I obviously have a rather diverse group of readers!😃)

So, if you're going to buy something from Amazon anyway, please use one of my links like this to go to the site, or just click on the picture of Roger Buck's The Gentle Traditionalist (a book I highly recommend!) in the sidebar, either of which will take you to Amazon.

Whether or not you contribute or help in other ways, I want to thank ALL of my readers. Be assured that I pray for your intentions at every Mass I hear, in every Rosary I say, and in my daily prayers.

  1. Dear sir I am a drug and alcohol addict and in the middle of a divorce. My will is very weak and am attacked by the devil and demons daily. I pray that if it is God's will he will give you more time on earth to help and encourage people and lead people to Christ. I can not help financially as I lost my job and with the pandemic am unable to get employment. I really enjoyed your post. I wish you the best. Thank you and God bless.

  2. I will certainly pray for you always. Thank you for your apostolate and prayers. We need more people like you who are willing to speak the truth and love their faith. If you see this comment, please look up Fr. David Hewko and the SSPX Marian Corps @ sspxmc.com. He is a very good priest who love his church as much as you do. God bless you and I will keep in my prayers forever. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. A brother in Christ

  4. I just came across your delightful blog by searching St Thomas Aquinas quotes. I love Nebraska. I now live in Texas but live in NE most of my life. I've been through Wilber and stopped there a few times with my brother and got some good Nebraska meat at the meat market there. God bless you. I hope you are doing well. Prayers for you today, Jovan. - Susie Melkus susiefromomaha@gmail.com

  5. Thank you for your articles. Since my late wife passed away, I have enjoyed your articles. In appreciation of your work, I would like to send you two papers she researched. They came about after she and I read George Weigel’s “Witness to Hope.”

I like you share some of the same health problems. But you have her talent, and to that end I don’t hold a candle. If you could send me an e-mail to chardine1@live.com . I would very much like you to read them and then do what you want with them. The articles are on Chapters 17 & 13 in Revelations.

You might want to give them a read before reading her papers.
    Thank you again,
Another old Curmudgeon 6 years senior.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
