Some pro-life students from Covington Catholic High School (Kentucky) were plunged into controversy this weekend after attending the March for Life in Washington, DC.
An event was captured on video purporting to show the high school boys surrounding Native American activist, Nathan Phillips, allegedly causing him distress.
Other accusations, such as the alleged use of racial slurs, also surfaced at the same time that the video footage was released on CNN.
But, now the truth has come out: THIS IS YET ANOTHER FAKE NEWS STORY!
This urgent petition asks the Covington Diocese and Covington Catholic to apologize to, and exonerate the students, as well as lift the threat of expulsion.
The video footage, which CNN released, had been heavily edited to make it appear that the boys had surrounded Mr Phillips, when in reality, Phillips had approached the boys, menacingly beating his drum within inches of the face of Nick Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic.
And, unfortunately, the Catholic Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School both reacted rashly to the stories and footage put out by the mainstream media, condemning the alleged actions of the boys, and even threatening to expel some of them from school.
As the old saying goes: "Shoot first, ask questions later."
However, Nick Sandmann's recently-released account of the event coupled with UNEDITED video footage, actually shows that the boys were initially taunted and verbally abused by four African Americans from a radical religious sect.
In order to counter the hateful taunts of the sect, and as Sandmann's account and the unedited video footage confirm, the students began their positive, school spirit chants - with permission of their teacher-chaperone.
And, again, confirmed by the unedited video, that is when the boys were approached by Nathan Phillips.
Not the other way around.
Prompted by the sensational coverage of the mainstream media - designed to distract from the massive success of the March for Life and the real travesty of 60 million abortions since Roe vs Wade - the Diocese and Covington Catholic both jumped to the wrong conclusions.
NOW - as new facts have come to light - this petition asks that the Diocese and the school both apologize to, and exonerate the Covington Catholic students, as well as lift the threat of expulsion.
