James Martin has sunk to a new low and OMM rips him a new one over his heretical stupidity.
From One Mad Mom
Oh my gosh. Every once in a while, OK, quite often, James Martin, SJ makes a comparison as insane as this.

Not since the anger over sex abuse in 2002 and 2018 have I seen so many people so demoralized, and ready to leave the church, as I have this week, after the CDF document on same sex blessings. And not simply LGBT people, but their families and friends, a large part of the church.
Gee, Father, I’m sure the victims of rape, sodomy, and molestation are going to be thrilled you’ve lumped them into the same category as people who have been told they can’t have a blessing. Yup. It’s exactly the same. What a jerk thing to say. Actually, there’s a whole lot of stupidity going on in one little tweet. That is just the number one outrageous thing that struck me, but it does show how you really feel about abuse victims. To the abuse victims, I am so sorry. I recognize your trauma and I hope that it hasn’t caused you to leave the Church because I’d hate to think your abuser stole something else from you.
Next, I hope nobody ever leaves the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. Even if they can’t stop sinning, I hope they’re there every week in front of Him begging for help until they can stop sinning. Despite the fact that you insist many like me are giving those suffering with same-sex attraction the “Here’s your hat, buh-bye!” treatment, you are lying. As always, you try to pit us all against each other. It’s a sickness on your part.
The comparison that you should have made – one that would fit in with the Vatican document reiterating no blessings of “gay unions” – would have been when priests, before Humanae Vitae came out, were telling their flock that birth-control was just fine and that the Church would soon come out and say it was so they were free to use it. In short, a bunch of priests thought they would play Pope and decided to tell their flock what was and what was not proper to marriage. Sound familiar? Yup. A bunch of people were hurt and left then, too. Still, many priests continued with their error, ruined marriages and led souls to perdition just as many are doing today. They can’t get over their stupid pride. The people in the pews don’t matter.
I don’t blame anyone with SSA or their families for being upset. They were sold a false bill of goods by Fr. Martin and the cabal of like-minded priests. They’ve been given all sorts of wild promises that the Church would one day come to understand that it was wrong in its perennial moral teaching and they would be free to marry in the Church someday. The fact that the Church came out Catholic and wouldn’t allow the blessing of sin must have been a shock to them. This is why we don’t tell people just to go find a happy home in some other Church. We just tell them to stop listening to the likes of James Martin, SJ. It’s always going to lead to heartache and disappointment. It’s the Fr. Martins of the world who need to repent or at least be honest enough to leave. The rest of us are sinners and need Truth found in the Church, a Church that doesn’t depend on us liking it.
To those threatening to leave the Church over a blessing they can’t have…You’ve built your home on a foundation of sand, AKA the promises of Fr. Martin and club. Stop and think about whether or not you really want to leave the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord over this. That is THE source and summit of our Faith. Don’t be the crowd that walked away when Christ’s teachings were hard. That’s the reality of your threat. This isn’t a social club to cheer you on even when you’re wrong. It was left to us by Christ to guide us to eternal life with Him. Do you really want everything your heart fancies in this world only to be denied that in the everlasting life? Think about it. The Church knows what the outcome will be when she speaks the truth, but the truth does indeed set you free. Fr. Martin and club want you to believe that being a slave to your desires is wonderful and he needs to keep you in those chains for his own benefit. Don’t convince yourself that your chains are beautiful bracelets. Voltaire was correct when he said ““It is difficult to free people from the chains they revere.” Revere God, not this world, and it’s much, much easier. Don’t let Fr. Martin separate us. Join with the rest of the Body of Christ and let’s struggle together against this world and the desires that keep us from Christ.
