From Everyday For Life Canada
The Justin Trudeau Liberal government can easily attack freedom of speech in Canada with the introduction of a Digital Charter. It's stated aim is to restrict hate speech and misinformation, but it will most likely be used to censor unwanted government views in print and the Internet.
Canada, the major social-media companies and a number of other countries recently signed the "Christchurch Call" agreement that promises to combat the online presence of hate speech and extremist groups. This was done in response to the New Zealand gunman who murdered 51 people while they were worshipping at two mosques. The killer filmed the event and for a short time it was live-streamed on Facebook.
Trudeau has made it clear: "We look forward to working alongside Internet companies, but indeed, if they do not choose to act, we will be forced to continue to act in ways that protect Canadians and we will have more to say about the kinds of tools we will be using in the coming weeks and months. Canadians expect us to keep them safe, whether it's in real life or online, and we will do just that." "Protection" can also be a green light for censorship of any ideas that the government deems to be "hateful" and "misinformation." But should we trust a government that is prerpared to act as censor? Will pro-life views be considered misinformation? We can't build a "strong democracy" by attacking free speech.

He also writes for the London Free Press, the Toronto Sun, as well as contributing to other publications including National Review. Watch his very informative video about the Digital Charter and what it means to Canadians has now that Trudeau signed the "Christchurch Call." Mansur says at one point, "In all his actions Justin Trudeau is making himself out to be a tyrant in the style of the Chinese communists which he so admires." We agree. However, watch and come to your own conclusion. The important thing is to be informed, especially since this is a federal election year.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
