Before they get to the questions the Chevalier discusses Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States. He also honours Pearl Harbor (sic) Day by reciting, as Franklin D. Roosevelt, the opening of FDR's 'A Day that will live in infamy' speech. He points out that 7 December 1917 was also the day the US declared war on Blessed Karl and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

On Shakespeare, I am absolutely convinced that Shakespeare was a recusant Catholic. There is just too much Catholicism in the plays.

The discussion of arranged marriages is fascinating. He points out that our concepts of ourselves has changed, that we think of ourselves as atomistic individuals rather than as a part of a community, a village or a kingdom.

The question on China has become moot, of course, thanks to Francis's betrayal of the Church in China, those who join from now on will no longer be Catholic, they will be loyal communists.

He points out that mediaeval education was a liberal arts education and there is an attempt to resurrect it in the 'classical education' movement. As an introduction to the trivium, which he mentions, as a modern discipline, I highly
recommend The Trivium: The Liberal Arts of Logic, Grammar, and Rhetoric, by Sr Miriam Joseph, C.S.C.

He defends the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre because it has been 'whitewashed' by the protestants. It was actually a reaction against the Huguenots' violent attempt to destroy Catholicism and France.

Vocations? The questioner asks about the single vocation, not in Religion. He has some interesting things to say about the temptations (other than sexual) to which single people are prone.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
