Chevalier Charles Coulombe on Priestly Celibacy

An interesting video. When I was a young Anglican, I live with a married Anglo-Catholic priest, his wife and their three children. I was considering the Anglican priesthood myself. One day, Father stumbled down the stairs, all bleary eyed, on his way to an emergency sick call, possibly to administer the Last Rites. He looked at me and asked, 'Are you sure you want to be a priest?'

Having gone through Orthodoxy on my way to the Catholic Church, and technically being Eastern Rite, I have absolutely no problem with a married Priesthood in the Eastern Churches. What I have a problem with is the people who are agitating for a change in the thousand year discipline of the Western Church.

I guarantee you that first, it will be ordaining married men. Then it will be allowing Priests to marry (something that no Church, East or West, has ever allowed), married Bishops, and eventually agitation for female 'priests'.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
