Another piece found on Facebook. A very interesting take on the motu, and this writer is not the only one with these thoughts.

For those who may be wondering, I am going to share my thoughts on the recent letter from the Vatican, Traditiones Custodes. I first began attending the Roman Rite 23 years ago, when I was 12. At the time, the Vatican permitted the rite to be restricted, much like they are hoping to do now. But the mentality was different at that time than it is for people, especially younger people, who have been born or have grown up since Benedict issued his letter 14 years ago. There is not going to be a going back, as the Vatican is hoping. This is not 1977, or 1987, or even 1997, when I started attending. Nor is there some trite evolution to acclimate people to the change, as happened 1955-1970. The sudden reversal will not be accepted with docile acceptance or change of perspective, because nothing has prompted that. When authority begins to crack down on any development, it is normally an indication of their failure, not success. Ideas that have won over a people do not need restrictions to bolster their popularity. This is not an attempt to stamp out a smoldering ember but restrict a blazing fire. Over the coming months various groups will be impacted by this change, but one thing is certain: the Vatican is admitting defeat. If I were a Modernist I would be incensed by this letter, as it is an admission of defeat, and an acknowledgment that the people are not won over. I say to those of traditional sensibilities, that this is the time to press harder and more boldly, for victory is now not just clear, but inevitable. Just as Julian the Apostate did not herald a pagan revival, this will not be the harbinger of a rebirth but a confirmation of a decline. Take comfort in knowing that, in clearest terms, the Modernists have declared their defeat, and have identified already the victors.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
