Word of the Day: Carmelite Rite

Since Fr Hardon doesn't seem to concern himself with the Latin Rites other than the Roman, Mozarabic, and Ambrosian, I'll have to fill the void. 

The Rite of the Holy Sepulchre and the Church of Jerusalem, commonly called the Carmelite Rite is is the liturgical rite that was used by the Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre, Hospitallers, Templars, Carmelites and the other orders founded within the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

Here is what the Traditional Carmelites in Wyoming have to say about it. 

According to the Motu Proprio: Summorum Pontificum of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, and the corresponding Instruction Universae Ecclesiae, the Monks of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel have unanimously chosen to permanently retain the Carmelite Rite as the Liturgy of their institute according to the Carmelite liturgical books in use in 1962.

This Rite is essential to their identity as Carmelite monks, structuring and determining the whole of their monastic horarium, and without this Liturgy the whole edifice of this beautiful charism would collapse. The Carmelite monks hold in great esteem this marvelous gift of their Carmelite Liturgy in the extraordinary form.
