What follows are just a few items from our Parish bulletin this week. Most of the rest of it is announcements of fundraising dinners in other Parishes in the Deanery.
I have been a Catholic for almost 40 years. By force of circumstance I've attended Novus Ordo Parishes almost entirely. Now in the Diocese of Lincoln, I feel as if I've gone through a time warp! This is the Catholicism I had read about and and to which I thought I was converting.
Talk of Holy Days of Obligation and deadly sin for intentionally missing Mass? Indulgences for the Poor Souls? I thought everyone went instantly to heaven, based on the 'Masses of the Resurrection' I've attended! Holy Hours of Adoration? In most Parishes I've been in, one would be met with a blank stare at the mention of a Holy Hour!
Eucharistic Family Rosary Crusade? Don't they know Father Peyton went to his reward years ago? And more Holy Hours and asking people to commit to Total Consecration to Our Blessed Mother? How very 17th century!
And, a Eucharistic Procession? Led by the Bishop? Around the State Capitol? Don't these people know that our Faith is to be kept out of the public square?
I just wish more people could fall through the same time warp!
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL SAINTS DAY is Thursday, November 1, and a Holy Day of Obligation under the pain of deadly sin for purposely missing Mass. (Mass times follow-JW)
From November 1-8 Holy Mother Church invites you to give a gift of a plenary indulgence to your beloved ones who may be suffering in Purgatory or to a Poor Soul already forgotten by name in this world. (Rules for obtaining the indulgence follow, with a note mentioning that if one can't obtain the plenary indulgence for failing one of the requirements, it becomes a partial indulgence.-JW)
ALL WOMEN: PLEASE JOIN US FOR A HOLY HOUR WITH EXPOSITION, ADORATION AND COMMUNITY PRAYER FOR THE INTENTION OF OUR LINCOLN DIOCESE PRIESTS (followed by times and location.-JW)
Eucharistic Family Rosary Crusade, Part II"Adoration Sunday" will be October 21... (Mention of Fatima, the Fatima 'Adoration Prayer', and a call to commit oneself to a) one Holy Hour of Adoration per week, b) two Holy Hours per week, or c) St Louis-Marie de Montfort's 33 day preparation for Total Consecration to Our Lady follow-JW)
A Eucharistic Procession around the Capitol will occur at the State Capitol in Lincoln at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4th. Bishop Conley will lead the Eucharistic Procession. All the diocese is invited to join with the Bishop that day in Lincoln in public witness of our faith and love for Jesus.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
