Her Imperial and Apostolic Majesty Zita, R+I+P

Another anniversary of death to report. It was on this day in 1989 that the Venerable Zita, Her Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty The Empress of Austria, Apostolic Queen of Hungary died. The wife of Blessed Karl, Emperor, she survived her husband by 67 years. When Karl was beatified, the day chosen for his Feast was not the usual day of his death, 1 April, but the date of his marriage to Zita, 21 October. Her Cause has been opened and she has been declared a Servant of God, with a joint Feast day with Blessed Karl.

May she join her beloved husband in the honours of the Altar. Blessed Karl, pray for your beloved Zita's beatification!

In honour of them both, here is 'Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze', the Imperial Hymn, as sung at the funeral of their son, the Archduke Otto, my youngest daughter's Godfather.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
