This is the first video in a series of lectures dedicated to the content of the book Iota Unum: A Study of Changes in the Catholic Church in the XXth Century, the masterpiece of Romano Amerio (1905-1997).
In this introductory episode, we present the author, the context of the work, and the boycott and silence imposed on this book by the mainstream ecclesiastical hierarchy of Vatican II.
Iota Unum (A Study of the Changes in the Catholic Church in the Twentieth Century) is a rigorous and documented analysis of the doctrinal, liturgical, and disciplinary ruptures that occurred after the Second Vatican Council. Amerio, who participated in the Council as an expert, demonstrates—based on official documents—the discontinuities in relation to Tradition and the previous magisterium.
Despite its depth and erudition, the work was systematically ignored and treated as taboo by official ecclesiastical authorities for decades. Meanwhile, it was praised by figures such as Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and Sandro Magister.
In this series, which is part of our collection of studies on the Second Vatican Council, we will explore the main themes of the book, chapter by chapter, with a traditionalist critical perspective.
