One of the Lionheart's first actions on arriving in the Holy Land was helping Guy of Jerusalem in capturing Acre from Saladin.
During the Third Crusade, a crusader army struggled with Saladin for control of the city of Acre. With the arrival of Richard the Lionheart, the warlike Plantagenet King of England, the siege of Acre escalated. For both sides, the stakes were higher than ever.
