Cathedral Vandalised As Pell Leaves Monastery

Not content that an innocent man spent 400 days in jail, the vicious anti-Catholic haters continue their persecution!

The words “rapist” and “no justice” have been graffitied on St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne with inverted crosses attached to the church’s gate after Cardinal George Pell was acquitted for child sex abuse.

In similar scenes, a children’s tricycle, ribbons and a paper bag bearing a biblical quote have been left on the gate of the east Melbourne monastery where Cardinal Pell spent his first night of freedom after 405 days in prison.

Cardinal Pell, who consistently maintained his innocence throughout the legal ordeal, was taken to the Carmelite Monastery in Kew on Tuesday afternoon after being released from HM Prison Barwon.

He left the monastery on Wednesday morning, exiting via a side gate on Murphy Street.

Overnight, those angered by the High Court’s decision tied ribbons to the monastery’s gate to symbolise solidarity with abuse survivors.

A man, who did not wish to be named, tied a dark blue ribbon to the gate at around 9.30am.

He said he respectful of the High Court’s decision and had come to the monastery on Wednesday to show support for child sex abuse survivors.

“For me it’s just a stance of solidarity, to represent those people who’ve been a bit voiceless,” he said. “And who need to feel a sense that people are with them at a time when they’re probably experiencing great powerlessness.”

Jane, who did not want her surname published, tied a bright pink ribbon to the gate.

She said she was a local and loved the work of the nuns of Carmelite Monastery.

“That is the best side of religion and Cardinal Pell is the worst side, whether as a perpetrator or as someone who turned a blind eye,” she said. “Every person is responsible for keeping children safe and we don’t believe he did that.”

A children’s tricycle was also left outside the Carmelite Monastery overnight. It has been removed.

A white paper bag attached to the gate said: “Luke 23.34: Father forgive them. For they do not know what they are doing.”

Victoria Police Officers have arrived at the monastery to ensure that any protesters who do turn up adhere to social distancing.

At St Patrick’s Cathedral, police officers are investigating the graffiti.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
