So Your Bishop is a Jerk, Now What?

If your 'shepherd' is one of the apostates who signed the infamous letter, OMM has some suggestions.

From One Mad Mom

In case you were wondering just how little your bishop cares for the Eucharist and the most vulnerable among us, read this. (Scroll way down for signatories.)

Signatories on Letter Opposing USCCB Vote on 'Eucharistic Coherence' Include 5 Cardinals, 6 Archbishops

Is your bishop on the list? Now that all of your suspicions have been confirmed, what are YOU going to do about it?  There’s literally no doubt anymore. These guys don’t even want protection of the Eucharist discussed. That’s just how bad they are (with the exception of Cardinal Dolan, who might actually be considering his immortal soul).

So, again, what are you going to do about it? I’m so tired of hearing that “nothing can be done while Francis is pope.” Quit your whining. Last time I checked, God was still God. He might just be waiting for you to show YOU believe that. The tiniest of insects can move a man. Be the mosquito in the room. Be that annoying buzz in your bishop’s ear. Make him itch!

How, you may ask? Pray to the Holy Spirit, educate yourself (because if your bishop signed this, you likely grew up in a diocese like mine and received little to no authentic Catholic education), and take action. In all seriousness, do something like start an anonymous blog in your very own diocese. You’d be utterly surprised how many people like you are out there. You can probably even get protestant pro-lifers to help you on this. Nobody in the pro-life world is happy with these traitors. These guys who signed do not want any light shown on what they are doing, and the average person in the pew probably doesn’t even know this letter exists. Shine the light.

Got friends who are amazing at praying? Praying monthly, weekly, daily on the steps of the cathedral or chancery office can be like pouring Holy Water on a demon. And money? Nothing goes to the diocese. Now, some are going to say, “Well, they’ll just take it from my parish anyway!” If that is the case, and if you have a good parish with a bad bishop, go to your pastor and tell him you’re willing to help keep the mortgage paid, the lights on, the water running, but you will only make a check out to the bank, power or water company. If you have a good pastor, he’s probably darn willing to help you be creative, because he’s none too happy either. Regardless, your encouraging people to not give another dime to the bishops scares the hell out of them (OK, not really, because they’ve apparently chosen that as their permanent retirement location). Money is a higher priority for them than the Eucharist.

Remember, the signatories of this letter only make up one-fourth of the bishops/cardinals in the United States. The numbers are NOT on their side. They’re just incredibly noisy. We have to be noisier. Not in a diocese with a signer? Help those that are.

We need to stop acting defeated and do as saints have said – Pray like everything depends on God and work like everything depends on you. Since I have kids, I can usually pull out a line from a cartoon to illustrate my point. If you saw “A Bug’s Life”, the signers are the grasshoppers and the faithful are the ants. We need to point that out to people. It’s like this, but God multiplies our efforts even more:

Keep being the buzzing mosquito or the ant at the bishop’s picnic.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
