Facebook Censors Tucker Carlson — And Science

As Usual, the Big Tech Giants stand firmly with their communist allies. The CCP must be destroyed!

From The American Spectator

By Jeffery Lord

Doing China’s bidding by shutting down free speech.

The story on Tucker Carlson Tonight was startling.

Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan, as Fox reported, “claimed to have evidence showing China ‘intentionally’ released COVID-19 onto the general population.”

Who is Dr. Yan? Tucker described her biography this way:

We do know that Dr. Li-Meng Yan is not a quack.

She’s authored peer-reviewed papers on coronavirus transmission in both Nature Magazine and The Lancet. Those are two of the most respected publications in all of science. Her paper on the origin of COVID-19, which she has published online, is not frivolous. In it, she points to specific evidence for the claims that she makes. She identifies so-called cut sites which are frequently used in genomic engineering that would allow scientists to swap in sequences from other viruses to create what she described last night as a Frankenstein bioweapon.

To be clear, I have no idea if Dr. Yan is correct. I do know that Tucker said she had to flee China for her life because of her belief, and is now in hiding somewhere in the United States. And he made plain this:

Are her allegations true? We have no way of knowing.

We can’t verify her allegations but she is a serious person making a very serious claim.

Indeed she is.

Tucker added,

Skepticism is the essence of science. Scientists challenge every assumption. They test every hypothesis. Scientists believe nothing until they can prove it. The scientific method doesn’t just encourage relentless questioning of everything, it requires that. Scientists who simply believe what they are told aren’t scientists at all. They are dangerous poseurs. Suddenly we have a lot of those in this country.…

The only way to get to the truth is to keep asking questions.

Well, of course. This would seem elementary in America. But frighteningly, Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of Big Tech do not believe this.

The Tucker segment of his interview with Dr. Yan was posted on Facebook and quickly went viral to some 1.3 million people. And then the Facebook censorship hammer came down. When one clicked on the video with Tucker and Dr. Yan, one found this:

False Information: This post repeats information about COVID-19 that independent fact checkers say is false. See why.

Instagram did the same thing, and Twitter suspended Dr. Yan’s account entirely. Said Tucker the following night in discussing this latest Big Tech censorship — this one, one suspects, done to appease the Chinese Communist Party’s government:

Science requires an exchange of ideas, diversity of view to get to the truth.

Facebook doesn’t believe this. They believe in censorship. Censorship does not make us wiser, it does not make us better informed.

Let’s be clear. We are at an extremely dangerous moment in American history. Violence has erupted in one major American city after another. All of them run by liberals and liberalism for decades. One policeman or sheriff after another has been shot, with attacks on police stations and private businesses, many of the latter black-owned businesses.

Added to all of this is the coronavirus — and other than getting a vaccine, nothing would be more important than understanding how and exactly where and why the virus originated. The time-tested way to do this is to ask questions, to be skeptical, to, as said on the show, demand an “exchange of ideas” and use “diversity of view to get to the truth.”

But as Tucker said,

Facebook doesn’t believe this. They believe in censorship.

Censorship does not make us wiser, it does not make us better informed.

Exactly. Which is what makes Facebook and Big Tech’s censorship so dangerous.

It doesn’t matter whether we are dealing with left-wingers trying to shut down Fox News or force sponsors to leave and shut down Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham. Or whether we are dealing with the lefties of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the rest of Big Tech, who are trying to shut down free speech to please their buddies in the Chinese Communist Party.

It is all of a piece.

This is a serious, very serious, battle to preserve free speech in America. Over at the Media Research Center, where, full disclosure, I write a media column, the MRC has now jumped into this fight for free speech big time. Their headline:

Media Research Center Launches #FreeSpeechAmerica to Battle Big Tech

The announcement begins this way:

Online censorship of conservatives is out of control, and the Media Research Center is doing something about it. The MRC just launched #FreeSpeechAmerica, designed to push back against Big Tech’s abuse of power.

“Our position is that if they can do it to the president of the United States, they can do it to anyone, and in fact that is exactly what is happening,” said Media Research Center founder and president Brent Bozell in a virtual launch event on Sept. 17. “Every platform in Silicon Valley today is censoring conservatives.”

Amen.

The time to stand up and fight back is right now.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
