Why the Ban on the Parking-Lot Mass?

A very short article that should prove, once and for all, that some of our Bishops failed Sacramental Theology! To ban parking-lot Masses because it is not possible to reverently distribute Holy Communion shows abysmal ignorance.

The Mass is NOT, repeat NOT, a 'communal meal' that requires each participant to have a bite to eat. St Pius X, in his Catechism, defines it as
the Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ offered on our altars under the appearances of bread and wine, in commemoration of the Sacrifice of the Cross.
A sacrifice requires only the sacrificing Priest to partake!

In his ignorance Abp Listecki is depriving his people of the comfort of Holy Mass and denying them of their rights as Christian Faithful.

Milwaukee’s Archbishop Jerome Listecki, explaining why he has banned parking-lot Masses:
Given that we are a Sacramental Church, a Eucharistic people, parking lot Masses should not be celebrated, mainly because the distribution of the Eucharist cannot be done in a consistent and safe dignified manner.
Non sequitur.

True, it is difficult if not impossible to distribute Communion safely and with appropriate dignity to people sitting in cars. But it is possible to celebrate Mass without distributing Communion to the congregation. So it is possible to celebrate Mass in a parking lot safely and with reverence.

The archbishop has the authority to set standards for the liturgy, and he has every right to issue an order against parking-lot distribution of Communion. But he goes well beyond that when he outlaws parking-lot Masses; he has deprived the faithful of their right to be present at the Holy Sacrifice. An enforced Eucharistic fast is painful, but arguably necessary. Still, better the Mass without Communion than no Mass at all.

Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
