Mendes is an opponent of Brexit. In 2017, he stated: "I’m afraid that the winds that were blowing before the First World War are blowing again. There was this generation of men fighting then for a free and unified Europe, which we would do well to remember."What colour is the sun on this wanker's planet? On earth, where the First World War took place, there was a generation of men fighting to make sure that Europe was not united under the hegemony of the Second Reich ruled by Kaiser Wilhelm. They were fighting to keep their nations free and independent, just as Brexiteers have been fighting to keep the UK free and independent from the hegemony of the Fourth Reich under Angela Merkel.

The Idiocy of Remoaners
In preparing a post on the new film 1917, I had occasion to look at the Wikipedia article on the director, Sam Mendes. I was looking for his religious affiliation, which doesn't seem to be mentioned, but as I looked at the section on his personal life, I found this:
