The Devaluation of the Order of Canada

Since Morgentaler's appointment, the Order of Canada is as big a laughing stock as the Nobel Peace Prize since Gore got it for pseudo-science and Obama for being Black.

From Every Day For Life Canada

The Order of Canada was established in 1967. The award is supposed to be "one of (the) country’s highest honours. Presented by the governor general, the Order honours people whose service shapes our society, whose innovations ignite our imaginations, and whose compassion unites our communities." According to the Canadian government website the recipients have "enriched the lives of others and have taken to heart the motto of the Order: "Desiderantes Meliorem Patriam" (from Latin the words means 'They desire a better country.'")
In 2008, abortionist Henry Morgentaler was awarded the Order of Canada. He received the recognition "for his commitment to increased health care options for women, his determined efforts to influence Canadian public policy and his leadership in humanist and civil liberties organizations." Morgentaler was nominated for the award by Dr. Bernard Barwin who himself had to resign from accepting the Order because of professional misconduct. But here's the question: How does killing unborn babies "increase health care options for women?" It doesn't. The award is based on a lie.

It's worth nothing that to date there have been eight people who chose to resign their Order of Canada. Six courageous individuals refused the Order of Canada in protest that the award had been given to abortionist Morgentaler. The fact that an anti-life and pro-death doctor could be award one of the country's highest honours, has forever devalued the Order of Canada, both for recipients and for all Canadians. Instead, those that "have enriched the lives of others" are in this case the people that refused the award in the name of life, God and plain common sense.

List of those who have said no to the Order of Canada.

Among the 2019 appointments to the levels of Member of the Order of Canada is..." is Cheri DiNovo. She made a name for herself by becoming a politician and queer activist.  She's also an ordained United Church minister and was the MPP for Parkdale-High Park for 11 years. Her award is “for her contributions to provincial politics and her lifelong advocacy of social justice.”

DiNovo made pushing LGBT issues her focus. Her agenda has included same-sex "marriage," gender expression, gender identity, banning conversion therapy and same-sex parent adoption. However, Canadians who have different ideas than DiNovo have slowly been legislated out the public square. How does this intolerance for other views translate to social justice? How is this even democratic?

Two other recipients that have devalued the Order of Canada are Christine M. Morrissey, O.C., "For her advocacy on behalf of 2SLGBTQ+ immigrants and refugees" and James Cowan, C.M., Q.C., "For his civic engagement as a parliamentarian and for championing human rights related to medically assisted dying, genetic discrimination and mental health." Advance the false "right" to kill and receive the Order of Canada.

The motto of the Order is about citizens who "desire a better country." How is the "better country" being built when those who disagree with DiNovo are excluded and called bigots? Queer voices count. Trans voices count. But other voices must be silenced. Other views don't count. Like Toronto's street preacher David Lynn who was arrested on June 2019 for sharing the Gospel on a sidewalk.

Giving the Order of Canada to people like Dinovo and Morgentaler devalues the award. The Order of Canada should be given to Canadians who work to build the common good and want a better Canada for all citizens, not just those who push tribal identity groups based on sexual, racial, religious, economic and social distinctions. The politics of sexual identity is not inclusive but divisive. Where are the "innovations" that "ignite our imaginations" here? We have reduced Canada's highest award to celebrating the death of the unborn and every sexual expression possible. This devalues the Order of Canada as a nation. The word Disorder would be more appropriate. This is the reason why we have much respect and admiration for those six people who refused the award. We congratulate them.
