Back in March of last year, I published a post from One Peter Five telling the story of an heroic fighter against the Culture of Death, Dr Halliday Sutherland. A day or two ago, I found the comment below from his grandson, Mark Sutherland, the author of the article I shared.
The reason I titled this post 'An Undeserved Thank You' is simple. It is undeserved. In my own small way, sitting at a computer keyboard in Nebraska a century later, I'm fighting the same battle that Dr Sutherland fought. Against the Marie Stopes and Margaret Sangers of today and their willing helpers in attempting to mould the world according to their insane theories.
Dear Mr Weismiller,
Thank you for publicising the story of Dr
Halliday Sutherland's (now forgotten) legal battle. I am delighted to
tell you that I have written a book about the trial (in conjunction with
my brother) that tells the story about:
* the bravery of Dr Halliday Sutherland in fighting a case on principle alone, given he had no money for it.
*
the British eugenicists who viewed tuberculosis as a rough but
effective way to kill those they deemed to be inferior, and who thought
that the cure of TB (a disease of poverty that killed 70,000 each year)
would be a “national calamity”.
* the eugenic aims of Dr Stopes’
Society for Constructive Birth Control and Racial Progress, and her
lobbying politicians for the compulsory sterilization of “undesirables”.
* the courageous leadership of Cardinal Bourne to ensure that Dr Sutherland was supported by the Roman Catholic Church.
* the dangerous nature of the device known as the “Gold Pin” and its role in the case in the High Court.
* Dr Stopes’ disastrous (and, given she was the plaintiff, unnecessary) testimony in the High Court.
*
Dr Stopes extensive commercial dealings with a manufacturer of
contraceptives and her efforts to conceal this activity, which led to…
* the altering of witness statements, which led to…
* the lies told in the High Court.
*
Dr Sutherland’s prediction of the impact that Dr Stopes’ agenda would
have on the world in which we live today ("The cataclysm which may end
the eighth known epoch in civilisation may be a lack of European
children.").
* the policy of "crypto-eugenics" (their label, not
mine) adopted by the Eugenics Society after World War II to enable their
work to continue today.
The e-book is available on Kindle (I will publish the paperback later in the year).

The
book is currently (at least in the US) only available as a Kindle
Unlimited selection, so if you buy the service I highly recommend
reading this book!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
