A Catholic journalist was asked by police to come in for questioning over tweets that allegedly “misgendered” an individual, potentially an offense under the UK Malicious Communications Act.
Caroline Farrow is a devout Catholic and mother of five, commentator and journalist for EWTN, LifeSite, and UK’s own the Catholic Universe magazine. In September of 2018, Farrow appeared on a Good Morning Britain segment about transgender issues with Susie Green, the mother of a transgender child, Jackie Green.
On Monday, Farrow was contacted by Surrey Police and asked to come in for an interview about a potential “malicious communication” that could be a violation of the UK Malicious Communications Act of 2003 carrying a potential prison sentence of up to six months. She allegedly “misgendered” Jackie Green in October on Twitter.
“I am being interviewed under caution for misgendering Susie Green’s daughter. It’s all rather Orwellian and rather scary. I may have referred to a 23-year-old transgender woman as someone’s ‘son.’ I try at all times to be polite on Twitter, but it is my belief on both a religious and scientific basis that you cannot change the sex into which you were born.'”
Farrow said her tweets automatically delete every two weeks, so she doesn’t know exactly what she said on Twitter.
“The thing is, I can’t even remember what I said. My tweets automatically delete after two weeks, so they are investigating me for tweets which have been deleted but which caused offense to Susie Green.”
Yesterday, Susie Green admitted on Victoria Derbyshire’s show that she complained to the police about the tweets, because she found them “deeply upsetting.”
“She constantly refers to my daughter as a boy. This was a journalist that has a public platform to use that to send very deliberately malicious, nasty messages.”
In a statement, Surrey police confirmed their investigation of Farrow:
“We received an allegation on October 15th, 2018 in relation to a number of tweets which were posted in October of 2018. A thorough investigation is being carried out to establish whether any criminal offenses have taken place. A 44-year-old woman has been asked to attend a voluntary interview in relation to the allegation as part of our ongoing investigation.”
Farrow took to Twitter, calling the investigation a “public witch-hunt,”

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
