Francis's Defenders Tie Themselves in Knots-If He Can't Resign, Benedict is Still Pope!

Reuters has published an article, Can the pope's accusers force him to resign? Their answer is essentially 'no', and in fact, the argument is that by demanding his resignation, his critics have made it impossible for him to resign 'freely' under the terms of Canon 332, which says, 'If it should happen that the Roman Pontiff resigns his office, it is required for validity that he makes the resignation freely ...'

The problem with their argument is that there is increasing evidence that Pope Benedict XVI was forced into resigning by the machinations of the Lavender Mafia and their allies in the anti-Catholic Sankt Gallen Mafia.

Ergo, if Francis cannot resign because of outside pressure, Benedict's resignation is null and void for the same reason. Benedict remains Pope and Francis is an anti-Pope.

I do not necessarily accept their argument. I do not believe that calls for his resignation constitute removing the 'freedom' of Francis to choose to resign, but if they do, there is little doubt that the same argument must be applied to Benedict's abdication of the Papal Throne.

Which way is it TeamFrancis? You can't have it both ways. Either Francis is free to resign, despite the increasing calls for his resignation, or Benedict's abdication is invalid and your Main Man in the attack on the Holy Church of Christ is no more than an Anti-Pope.

Make up your minds.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
