Word of the Day: Epistle of James

JAMES, EPISTLE OF. Traditionally attributed to James the Less, “the brother of the Lord.” It was written in Greek, and its style and language were typically Jewish, indicating that it was originally intended for converts from Judaism. Its main stress is on the moral conduct of Christians, notably their perseverance under trial, respect for the poor, and the need to bridle one’s tongue. It is especially clear on the duty of living one’s faith and not merely professing it (James 2:14-26). Among the good works binding on Christians, the practice of charity and the avoidance of conflict are primary (James 4:1-12). (Etym. Anglicized form of Hebrew, Jacob, through Spanish Jaime.)

The heresiarch, apostate Priest and debaucher of Consecrated Virgins, Martin Luther, called it an 'Epistle of Straw' and tried to remove it from the Canonical New Testament, because Verse 14 of the Second Chapter completely destroys his Sola Fidei heresy.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
