Word of the Day: Blasphemy
BLASPHEMY. Speaking against God in a contemptuous, scornful, or abusive manner. Included under blasphemy are offenses committed by thought, word, or action. Serious contemptuous ridicule of the saints, sacred objects, or of persons consecrated to God is also blasphemous because God is indirectly attacked. Blasphemy is a grave violation of charity toward God. Its gravity may be judged by the capital punishment in the Old Testament, severe penalties of the Church, and in many cases also of the State for blasphemous speech or conduct. In order for a person to sin gravely in this manner, he must use blasphemous expressions and realize the contemptuous meaning of what he says or does. (Etym. Latin blasphemia, blasphemy; from Greek blasphēmein, to speak ill of.)

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.

The Golden Arrow
ReplyDeleteThis prayer was dictated by our Lord Himself to Sister Mary of St. Peter on August 26th, 1843. In her Autobiography, she recounted that Our Savior opened His Heart to her, making her see that “this frightful sin [of blasphemy] wounds His divine Heart more grievously than all other sins. Through blasphemy, the sinner curses Him to His Face, attacks Him publicly, nullifies his redemption, and pronounces his own judgement and condemnation. … Blasphemy is a poisoned arrow continually wounding His divine Heart.” After that, Our Savior dictated the following prayer, which He called the Golden Arrow, saying that those who would recite this prayer would wound Him delightfully, and also heal those other wounds inflicted on Him by the malice of sinners.” This prayer is the very BASIS of the Work of Reparation:

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible, and ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, adored, loved, and glorified, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth,* by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
“Oh, you, who are my friends, and my faithful children, look and see if there be any sorrow like mine. Everywhere My enemies despise and insult both my Eternal Father and My Church, the cherished Spouse of My Heart. Will no one rise up to console Me by defending the glory of My Father, and the honor of My Spouse, which has been so cruelly attacked? I can no longer remain in the midst of a people that will continue to be so heedless and so ungrateful. Look at the torrents of tears that stream from My eyes! Can I find no one to wipe away these tears by making reparation to My Father, and imploring forgiveness for the guilty?”

Offering of the Sacred Heart
ReplyDeleteEternal Father, look upon the Sacred Heart of Jesus which I offer to You as a vase, that It might receive the wine of Your Justice, so that in passing through this Holy Channel, Your Justice may be changed for us into the Wine of Your Mercy! Amen.
