The Most Powerful Ruler of Silesia! Visionary or Tyrant?

From Nie Uwierzysz

Henry the Bearded was not a king and never assumed the crown, but for a while he was one of the most powerful Piast dynasty of his era. It was he who built the power of Silesia, fought for Kraków, Greater Poland, and the Lubusz Land, and his reign became one of the greatest opportunities for the early unification of Poland after the feudal fragmentation. In this film, I tell the story of a prince who combined piety with hardline politics, founded monasteries, developed cities, supported settlement, and waged a long game for power over the Piast lands. Henry the Bearded was the husband of Saint Jadwiga of Silesia, father of Henry the Pious, and founder of the power known as the monarchy of the Silesian Henrys. If not for his death and the subsequent disaster at Legnica in 1241, could Poland have united much sooner? This question recurs to this day.
