This whole situation with the SSPX is a real shame. Fighting for tradition within the Roman Catholic Church is far more effective than trying to fight from the outside. The best solution would have been for SSPX leadership to find a way to reconcile with Rome. But here’s my question? Why did Rome make it so hard? There’s a fundamental lack of trust at play here. And honestly, the Holy See hasn’t done much to earn the trust of traditionalists. Here are three moves that the Vatican made that really set back relations with the SSPX and other traditionalist groups.
