After winning last year’s battle for free speech, leading patriots must now ask: what happens after elections start swinging the right way?
A high-profile conservative conference is taking place in the capital of the European Union this week, at the same venue that last year hosted a major National Conservatism event despite the Brussels establishment’s desperate attempts to shut it down.
MCC Brussels director Frank Furedi said that Brussels—and, in particular, the Claridge Hotel—was chosen for his think tank’s flagship conference, ‘Battle for the Soul of Europe,’ as “our answer to those who tried to close the doors on us last time: we are back, we are visible, and we are not afraid.”
The proprietors of the Claridge stood firm in the face of intimidation last April when no fewer than three of the city’s mayors tried—and ultimately failed—to get the NatCon event cancelled, including by sending police officers to blockade the venue.
John O’Brien, head of communications at MCC Brussels, stressed that “freedom of speech either exists for everyone—or it doesn’t exist at all.”
Announcing the venue for the ‘Battle for the Soul of Europe’ event, which is being held on December 3rd and 4th, O’Brien said that since the establishment attempted to shut down NatCon, “lots has changed.”
Despite the increasingly desperate efforts of European elites, the European public feel much freer now in speaking their minds, and elections are slowly turning in favour of common sense and patriotic voices.
As such, the organisers believe it is now time for leading patriots to ask: “What happens the day after we win?”
Speakers at the conference, which has already caught the eye of the Brussels establishment, will include former Czech President Václav Klaus, British political professor Matthew Goodwin, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s political director Balázs Orbán.
