A lot of us know Æthelflæd from the TV show The Last Kingdom. Here we see her accomplish much, such as fighting against the Danes to protect Mercia from them taking it. Let it be clear that Æthelflæd the Lady of Mercia was very real, and many historians describe Æthelflæd as a warrior queen who played a vital role in the campaigns against the Danes.
