Saint Fernando: History’s Greatest King? | Córdoba’s Fall, 1236 ~ Reconquest of Spain

As a young man, Fernando III, King of León-Castile, successfully navigated the tumultuous landscape of his family’s internal conflicts. He was a valiant general and a dedicated Christian who led many crusades into al-Andalus. His most determined opponent was Ibn-Hud, a former mercenary who claimed to be a descendant of the old emirs of Zaragoza. A gifted commander and courageous warrior, Ibn-Hud rallied the Muslims of al-Andalus and stood in defiance of King Fernando. Ultimately, this battle would culminate at Córdoba, the one-time capital of the Umayyad Arab conquerors of Spain.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
