Collect of St John Before the Latin Gate ~ Indulgenced on the Feast (See Note)

According to the Apostolic Penitentiary, a partial indulgence is granted to those who on the feast of any Saint recite in his honour the oration of the Missal or any other approved by legitimate Authority.

V.
 O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto thee.
Let us pray.
O God, Which seest that sins and sufferings do on every side rise up to trouble us, grant, we beseech thee, that we may find a shield in time of need through the glorious intercession of thy blessed Apostle and Evangelist John.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
R. Amen.

Nota bene - St John Before the Latin Gate is no longer celebrated on the Universal Calendar, but according to the Martyrology, prior to John XXIII's reforms, this is the Feast Day. I have no idea if this Collect is still indulgenced, but it can never hurt to honour the Saints. The Collect is taken from the pre-1960 Missal.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
