When is St Augustine of Canterbury's Day?

On Sunday, my post, A Chesterton Calendar, indicated that it was St Augustine of England's Day. Yesterday evening, as I was preparing the posts that I share at midnight, I noticed that the entry on In Lumine Fidei for today, the 28th, was St Augustine of Canterbury's Day. Huh?

Since they were both the same Saint, I was confused. So, being the curious sort I am, I did some research. It turns out they are BOTH correct! Not only that, but yesterday, the 27th, was also St Augustine's Day!

It all depends on which Rite or Use you are following. The 26th is, indeed, St Augustine's Day if you are an Eastern Rite Catholic, in England, or a member of the Anglican Ordinariate. If you are a Roman Rite Traditionalist such as the authoress of In Lumine Fidei, today is the Feast of St Augustine.

And if you follow the Novus Ordo Calendar of 1969, his Feast falls on 27 May. So, yes, St Augustine has three Feast Days, one after the other.

Mystery solved!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
