Faith Seeking Understanding: The Ascent and Decline of Scholasticism
In this lecture, discover the dramatic history of scholasticism, an intellectual movement that dominated medieval thought and education. We will meet key figures like Peter Abelard, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Duns Scotus, and trace its humble origins in the monastic schools, into the great medieval universities, to its gradual decline in the modern period. Along the way we shall discover some key insights that remain as principles of perennial wisdom.
