Are We Living in the End Times?

A guest post from my friend, Jack Seney.

It frequently seems as though "we are living in the end times." But people throughout history since the Resurrection of Christ have thought they were "living in the end times," and Christ Himself says that the end will come when no one expects it.

If Christ speaks literally, this means that even faithful Catholics will not at that time expect the end, perhaps because faithful Catholics at that point will only just be surviving and keeping the Church alive, which could indicate that we are talking about well into the future, rather than next Tuesday as some Catholics always seem to think (yet one never sees them giving up their worldly property and possessions in preparation!).

Maybe the end is upon us. But maybe there is a very long way to go yet. So instead of gritting our teeth and waiting for an end that may not be imminent, maybe we should strive for an earthly victory for the Church now.

If Saint Athanasius with all the odds against him could emerge victorious against powerful heretics in the 400s, then Catholic tradition can emerge victorious now. A miracle hardly seems required, as Church liberalism, for all its widespread influence, seems entirely self-destructive, and all non-liberals have to do is wait, do our Catholic work and be patient.

Trust in God and don't worry, as Saint Padre Pio said. Trust in God and don't worry and do the best you can for Him in your life, including through regular good deeds. Then you will be too busy to be obsessing over whether Armageddon will be upon us for breakfast.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
