Why are Iranians turning to Christianity and, in some cases, Catholicism despite the risks? This video explores religious conversion in Iran, the experiences of Iranian Christian and Catholic converts, underground expressions of faith, and the extraordinary challenges faced by people who leave Islam for Christianity.
Religious conversion is particularly sensitive in Iran. USCIRF reported that Iranian authorities systematically targeted Christians during 2025, including converts involved in activities such as prayer, baptism, Communion, and house churches. In 2026, USCIRF documented the imprisonment of Ghazal Marzban, whom it identifies specifically as a Catholic Christian convert.
