Cardinal Víctor Fernández Full Speech at Magnifica Humanitas Vatican Launch

From EWTN News

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández (the Heretic-in-Chief - Old Curmudgeon), prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, delivers his full address at the Vatican launch of Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas: On the Protection of Human Dignity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. Speaking in the Synod Hall alongside the Holy Father and other experts, he helps present the Church’s most in‑depth teaching yet on the digital revolution and artificial intelligence. In this speech, Cardinal Fernández draws on Catholic social teaching and recent Vatican documents on AI to warn that technologies detached from embodied, relational human intelligence can become a threat to the true good of humanity. He highlights the encyclical’s call to resist an “anti‑human vision” and a “culture of power” driven by data and algorithms, insisting that every technological development must serve the dignity, freedom, and vocation of the human person.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
