Afghan Asylum Seekers on Trial in Germany for Rape of Teen Girls

I'm sorry, but invading armies do tend to rape the women of the country they're occupying. You'd think the Germans would remember the Red Army.

The trial comes as migrant flights from Afghanistan continue under new chancellor Merz, despite pre-election promises.

Two Afghan asylum seekers this week appeared at Heilbronn Regional Court in Germany, accused of drugging and raping two girls, aged just 13 and 15.

The men, identified as “Mustafa M.” (21) and “Amanola N.” (22), are alleged to have secretly drugged the teenagers before assaulting them both sexually and physically (in one case, by choking).

The eldest suspect has previously been convicted of sexual harassment. Both of their asylum applications are still pending, according to German daily Bild.

The paper added that the 13-year-old victim was in such a bad state due to drug intoxication that the defendants are also accused of attempted manslaughter.

These events are alleged to have taken place in November last year, before Friedrich Merz came to power. But the case is bound to bring fresh criticism of continued Afghan migrant flights under his watch, which have broken pre-election pledges.

Officials have attempted to justify this movement by pointing to Afghans on board the flights who supported German troops in Afghanistan, but these now only make up a small proportion of the migrants coming over.

Both suspects being tried in Heilbronn have denied the charges, according to reports, saying the sex was consensual and that no drugs were involved. A verdict is expected to be delivered on July 23rd.
