There has been lots of speculation in the press that the King is going to ditch some of the royal robes traditionally worn at the coronation. These traditional coronation robes are not just to make the King look grand, they all have a symbolic meaning and express the status of the sovereign and the transformation of their status in the coronation rite. In this video, I explore all of that rich history and the religious and political symbolism of the British coronation robes.
