Recently, I watched a video about the John Birch Society and its role in the Cold War. It reminded me of a discussion I had with members of the JBS many years ago.
They solicited me in the 1970s to join the Society. As my readers should know, even tho' I wasn't yet a Catholic, I was already a monarchist and an Altar & Throne conservative in the older European sense. When the Birchers approached me, I said, 'You support the republic, right?' They answered 'Yes, of course, we do'. To which I replied, 'Republics lead to democracy, democracy leads to liberalism, liberalism leads to socialism, socialism leads to communism. I don't support crypto-communist organisations like the John Birch Society.' Needless to say, that ended their attempts to recruit me! It was probably the first and only time someone had ever called the Society 'crypto-communist'! LOL!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
